Who we are

Our Mission

Speed for Sport is a registered UK charity (No. 1202155) dedicated to helping children and young people — especially those from low-income families or with additional needs such as ADHD and dyslexia — access sport, build confidence, and reach their potential.
We provide sprint training, activity programmes, and holistic support that develop physical fitness, resilience, and life skills. Our mission is to remove barriers so every child can thrive in sport and life.

Our Impact

At Speed for Sport, we deliver a range of activities designed to help children and young people build fitness, confidence, and life skills through athletics. Our programmes are inclusive, affordable, and tailored to individual needs.
Weekly Sprint Training Sessions – Structured 1-hour sessions developing speed, agility, balance, and coordination in a safe, supportive environment.
Holiday Activity Camps – High-energy activity days combining sprint training, games, and teamwork challenges.
Workshops & Drop-Ins – Short sessions covering nutrition, confidence-building, and resilience skills.
Community Engagement – Working with schools, families, and volunteers to create opportunities for children who may otherwise face barriers to sport.
Every session is designed not just to improve athletic performance, but also to support well-being, teamwork, and personal growth.

What We Do

2023 – Laying the Foundations
Speed for Sport launched at Leeds Trinity University, delivering our first community sprint training sessions. We established a strong community of young athletes and families, proving the demand for inclusive, affordable sport.
2024 – Growing Demand
In February 2024, we expanded to the John Charles Centre for Sport, running two sessions per week. Between February and July 2024, we engaged 146 children, many attending regularly each week. Feedback from parents highlighted improvements in children’s fitness, confidence, and social skills.
2025 – Expanding Reach
Building on this success, we are now expanding beyond Leeds. In September 2025, we will launch a new programme in Keighley, offering two more weekly sessions. This growth means we can reach even more children, particularly those from low-income families with additional needs, helping them thrive through sport.
